According to NFPA 72, “Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) or Fire Alarm Control Unit (FACU) is the brain of the fire alarm system, provided with primary and secondary power sources, which receives signals from alarm initiating devices or other fire alarm control units, and processes these signals to determine part or all of the required fire alarm system output functions(s) like alarm notification appliances.
In addition to the functions identified in the definition on NFPA, A fire alarm control unit might have an integral operator interface, supply power to detection devices, notification appliances, transponder(s), off-premises transmitter(s) or any combination of these. The control unit might also provide transfer of conditions to relay or devices connected to the control unit. There can be multiple fire alarm control units in a fire alarm system.”
The introductory screen displays a graphic image of the site in the Main Window (similar to the image below). The main screen can be divided into 2 major areas – the fixed image area (i.e. the buttons) on the left & right side, and the dynamic image area (i.e. all other areas) which changes depending on the occurrence of various events and user interface operation after using different buttons.
◎ Fixed image area: Alert buttons, Function buttons, panel image at top left corner, small panel image at net/comm. In the top right corner & the Help icon does not change, although the colors of alert buttons change upon the occurrence of events.
◎ Dynamic image area: Status, image, symbol, visibility, or event messages change in response to a particular event, or user selection, and presents various options, and info in different windows.
